Arg I want to try to reply something first about the content of your writing to be polite but the main thing that I want to share with you is that I have found what seems like the less evil of all AI by using Lumo, which is based on an open source model and do not collect or store nor train itself on personal data and which server are based in Europe.
I think it is important to maybe not normalise but also think about what exactly is “oh this is evil or not “good” but it is really helping me” within an ableist system. Even if you don’t necessarily identify as such autism and dyslexia are disability, so then AI and previously spell checker becomes tools of access which then broach to the wider subject of people who are able to contribute, take part, work, navigate in society when otherwise they could not.
I’m thinking about this topic ALL THE TIME lately, too. I’ve not come to any conclusions. There’s a lot of fear, protectionism and elitism around it. I think these are really useful and creative tools when used as editors, sounding boards, critical friends. All writers, artists, creators have used, and need, those. We’re just accustomed to that being a human, not a bot. I’m pretty comfortable with its use for that and I’m not sure I even need much disclosure about it. But I would like things that are entirely produced by AI to be flagged as such. But even then, I’m not sure, if no-one’s losing out. If something speaks to me artistically, musically or otherwise, and doesn’t seek to deceive, do I mind? I’m not sure yet!
I love this. AI without doubt helped get me a distinction in my degree. It does the important task of giving my creative VISION, language, …words in coherent sentences, so others could grasp the concepts and its potential. I’m hopeful it may actually help us advance our species NATURAL intelligence - as well as oppress it!
